AC Milan were recently defeated 2-0 by Chelsea in their pre-season tour in the United States. After the match, midfielder Kevin Prince Boetang has said that the club needs to strengthen if they are to be capable of challenging for the title at the end of the season.

Milan finished the last campaign in the third position after a great end to the season. The 26-year-old has admitted that the match against Milan was a good test for the team, but he needs to see the club bring in a couple of players before the end of the transfer window.

Boetang was one of the best players for Milan last season. However, he is hoping to improve on this season.

LAVEZZI WANTS NAPOLI STAY

GOMEZ TIPPED FOR MOVE

German international Mario Gomez has been one of the most wanted strikers in the summer after he is highly anticipated to leave Bayern Munich before the transfer window closes. Despite being a £ 30 million signing from Stuttgart only a few years ago, Gomez found himself playing second fiddle at Bayern Munich last season.

It was only a year ago that Gomez was one of the regular first-team players alongside Frank Ribery and Arjen Robben up front. It is thought that the 27-year-old is highly displeased with the last season and he does not see his opportunities increasing under new manager Guardiola as well.

EXPECT MORE

Italian national team manager Cesare Prandelli has said that he is expecting more from the national team in the future, but he is confident that they can become a truly great team. Italy were often criticised in recent years for having several older players in the team.

Immediately after taking over, Prandelli has been working towards reducing the age of the national squad. Through the introduction of players like Mario Balotelli and Stephan El Shaarawy, Italy now boasts of a lot of young talent. As a result, there have been inconsistencies in their game in recent months.

CASSANO OFFERED HOPE

The Italian Antonio Cassano has not featured for the national team since being left out of the team that could manage only a 1-1 draw with the Dutch. Cassano has been criticised by several high-profile managers like Fabio Capello for getting involved in a clash with the Inter Milan manager Andrea Stramaccioni.

However, the Italian manager Prandelli has said that the international career for the 30-year-old is not over yet. He has insisted that this is just a break from international football, and Cassano will soon be in his plans for the future squads.

YOUNGSTERS BREAK THROUGH

Italian football has been dominated by the presence of several older players over the years, but the current manager Cesare Prandelli has been trying to reduce the age of the squad in recent months.

He has now said that he will be looking to introduce some of the players part of the under 21 squad into the senior squad for the Confederations cup in the hope of providing them with experience. Italy will be playing in the Confederations cup in 2013 as preparation for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Players like Stephan El Shaarawy have been extremely promising for the national team in the last few months.

CASSANO HAS A CHANCE

The Italian national team manager Cesare Prandelli has said that he does not rule out the possibility of the Inter Milan striker Antonio Cassano representing the national team once again.

The striker has not been part of the Italian team since the Euro 2012, which have led to rumours suggesting that his international career is all but over. The manager, though, has said that his exclusion from the team is not permanent and he will be back in his plans in the near future. He has said that it is right that Italy chose a number of different players in order to determine the strength of the squad before the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

ITALY MUST LEARN

The Tottenham goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini has said that the Italian football should be learning a lot from English football when it comes to stopping hooliganism in football. Hooliganism was one of the biggest problems faced by English football back in the 1980s.

However, a lot of reforms by the government and changes to the way security in football was implemented have done a lot of improvement in this regard. Now, football hooliganism is almost eliminated from English football apart from the few instances. This, however, is a big problem in Italian football and the recent incident involving Lazio supporters doing anti-Semitic chants and attacking Tottenham supporters should be stopped according to the Tottenham goalkeeper.

KEEP THE FOCUS

The Lazio manager Vladimir Petkovic has said that his team should not lose its focus when they play in the second leg match against FK Mura in the Europa league playoff round. Lazio are extremely close to securing their place in the group stages of the Europa league after they have secured a 2-0 victory in the first leg.

However, the job is certainly not over according to the Lazio manager Vladimir Petkovic, who has said that the players need to maintain their utmost concentration in order to complete the job in the second leg. He said that the tie is delicately balanced with no room for error.
