Conte Will Stay At Juventus

Italian club Juventus have confirmed that manager Antonio Conte will remain at the club into the next season as well. The future of the 44-year-old has come under intense speculation given that he has not signed a new contract yet. His current contract runs out next summer and due to the demand for quality managers, he has been linked with several big jobs over the last few months. Conte led the club to a third successive league title, which is an impressive feat considering that he also helped them get back from the second division.

Despite the repeated failures in European competitions over the three years, a lot of it seems to have been put upon Conte. His decision to delay the contract signing process is widely believed to be due to the low transfer budget of the club. Juventus have not been able to compete with the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona in terms of top players. As a result, they have had to settle for the next best quality and this has not paid dividends in Europe.

Even in the upcoming transfer window, the club are expected to move for Didier Drogba on a one-year contract rather than sign a player in the prime of his career. Drogba is 36-year-old striker currently at the end of his career.
“There will certainly be no announcement today. This is the day for a celebration, the crowning moment of a wonderful season and we hope for the icing on the cake of 102 points. From tomorrow a new sporting season begins and the first thing to discuss is the coaching situation. We are all very calm and relaxed. There is absolutely optimism, as we consider Conte a great Coach and are very proud to have him with us. We’ll do all we can to keep him,” said Juventus’ general manager.
