AC LOSE TO CHELSEA

AC Milan were recently defeated 2-0 by Chelsea in their pre-season tour in the United States. After the match, midfielder Kevin Prince Boetang has said that the club needs to strengthen if they are to be capable of challenging for the title at the end of the season.

Milan finished the last campaign in the third position after a great end to the season. The 26-year-old has admitted that the match against Milan was a good test for the team, but he needs to see the club bring in a couple of players before the end of the transfer window.

Boetang was one of the best players for Milan last season. However, he is hoping to improve on this season.

In 37 appearances, Boetang managed only three goals, which was much lower than the nine goals he had scored in the previous season. Now, he is hoping to achieve that level when it comes to goalscoring. Chelsea have also had the advantage of having began their pre-season much earlier than AC Milan. This is because the English Premier league starts well before the Italian league on most occasions. This year, though, the difference between the two leagues is limited because of the World Cup coming soon.

“My goal is to do better than last year and I’m working on it. We are all still in preparation so there is plenty of time for us to improve. Chelsea are a strong team. It was a good test for us. Both teams played very well. We put a lot of pressure on them. Certainly we are disappointed with the defeat, but the losses now don’t count. It was a good experience and an excellent training session ahead of the Champions League preliminaries,” said Boetang, whose team will have to be involved in Champions league qualifiers.
